1. Formulate the target product and describe the style characteristics of the product

Content can include styles of beer brewing, ingredients required, and more. To accurately describe the style of beer, do the following work, such as:

How many liters of beer do you need to brew in the end?

Do you use ale yeast, lager yeast, or other specialty yeast?

What is the specific value or range of raw wort concentration planned to be brewed?

What is the approximate Bitterness Value (IBU) planned to be achieved?

What is the planned chromaticity?

Which malt indicators are suitable or meet the program requirements?

What hop aroma and aroma profile are required?

What other special ingredients (fruits, spices, syrups, etc.) need to be included, and how are they added?


2. Compile the mashing process, including the list, index and quantity of malt and concentrate

What base malt or concentrate do you plan to use?

What types of specialty malts do you plan to use, and in what proportions and quantities?

What type of mashing process is required?

What is the final concentration of the brewing process.

3. Determine the water quality requirements

What are the index requirements for raw water?

What ionic concentration of water is required for this planned beer?

What treatment options are required to achieve these ionic concentrations?

If water treatment is required, what effect do these additives have on saccharification?

Does the mashing process need to add other substances?

What is the total amount of water required? How much is the water for saccharification and the water for washing waste?


4. Determine the list of hops, including indicators and quantities

What characteristic hop aroma is required (source and type of hops)?

What characteristic hop flavor is required (source and type of hops)?

What is the desired hop bitterness value?

To determine the amount of aroma hops added, it is necessary to first calculate the possible impact of aroma hops on the IBU value. Subtract the IBU of the flavor hops from the total IBU to calculate the desired amount of bitter hops added.


5. Determine the fermentation process

What kind of yeast will be used?

What is the amount of yeast added?

What is the suitable fermentation temperature? How to control and monitor fermentation temperature?

What configuration of fermentation vessels will be used? Pneumatic valve or breathing valve?

Is a separate diacetyl reduction time required?

Do you need back storage?

6. Consider filtering and supplementing carbon dioxide

Does the beer need to be ready by a specific date?

What clarification methods will you use (boiling with Irish moss to clarify the wort, post-fermentation filtration, cryoprecipitation, or other fining agents)?

What is the initial concentration or CO2 pressure required to achieve the desired CO2 level?
