"WHISKY TERM"


1.Blended single malt whisky

In recent years, it is generally called blended whisky. Refers to the blending of malt whiskies from multiple distilleries, excluding grain whiskies.


2.Original slution

Yeast is added to the sugar liquid to ferment it, and the obtained fermentation liquid is the original wine. The alcohol content is 6-8 degrees

3.Front distiller

Utensils for the first distillation.


4.Fermenter

A vessel in which yeast is added to wort to ferment. It is a large barrel, usually made of larch or fir wood. Iron and stainless steel barrels are also available.


5.Pass the barrel

After the whisky is matured, it will be moved to other wine barrels to continue to mature to add different flavors. For a long time, it will be re-matured for about 2 years, mainly using red wine barrels.


6.Angels enjoy!

Refers to whisky that evaporates during maturation. Taking Scotch whisky as an example, it will evaporate 3~4% in the first year of brewing and then continue to evaporate at a rate of 1~2% every year. This amount accounts for 200 million bottles of all Scotch whisky.


7.Oak

Fagaceae Quercus, used to make whisky barrels. There are mainly three kinds of American white oak, European oak, and Mizuhara.

8.Barrel strength original spirits

This is a whisky sold by the alcohol level of the wine matured in barrels, usually 60% ethanol by volume or 120, the standard alcohol level.


9.Crumbled malt

Ground malt for mashing.


10.Grain whisky

It is made from corn or wheat and is brewed through continuous distillation.
