Throughout European history, beer is well-deservedly one of the cornerstones of Western civilization, and beer even has its own Dionysus—Ninkasi. Beer is considered to be the drink of blue-collar workers in modern society, but in 1979, President Carter of the United States promulgated the Human Rights Act No. 1337, which legalized home brewing beer. Prices are on the rise too!

When people talk about expensive alcoholic beverages, top wine and Scotch are the first things that come to mind. After decades of development, craft beer has also produced many wines that only rich people can afford. Let us have a look at the 8 most expensive beers in the world!

1. The Bruery Black Tuesday

This beer is released once a year. The price of the newly released beer is not expensive, about 36 US dollars a bottle, but then the value will continue to rise, and a bottle of old beer will cost more than 100 US dollars. Do you think the price is acceptable? This is the cheapest one on our list.

2. Sam Adams Utopia

Only 15,000 bottles of this beer are produced a year, and they cost $200 a bottle for select vintages, which are more expensive! Utopia has a rich malt aroma and is 29% abv, making it perfect to drink like a fine whiskey.

3. Brewdog's Sink the Bismark/End of History

The aggressively named beer is billed as the strongest beer in the world, with an alcohol content of 41% and a bottle priced at $300. The brewery likes to challenge themselves, and later they launched a Belgian ale called "End of History", with 55% alcohol. The first batch of only 12 bottles was released, and each bottle cost only $800.

4. Lost Abbey Veritas

The beer is so limited that it’s barely available, its fifth release has only 6 cases and it’s simply not available! The fourth release has 70 cases and sells for $500 a bottle.

The 29-proof barley beer was brewed in 1994 and has been aging ever since. In 2013, the brewery released 12 bottles of these beers, selling for as much as $2,000 a bottle, and even more on the secondary market!

8. Cantillon Don Quijote
