Interesting facts you didn’t know about beer

In the first two years, I spent some time in Berlin because of participating in a public art project. Berlin is a bit like Beijing, but the initial intimacy lasted for a few days, and slowly turned into an unaccustomed one.Firstly the weather, and then eating. On the second day in Berlin, I couldn't wait to rush to a famous century-old traditional shop called Zur Letzten Instanz to eat a German pork knuckle dinner. I ordered a classic set meal. When I came up, I found that it was a whole half roasted golden pork knuckle, with a pile of pickles enough to sour teeth, plus about 1L beer

Pork elbow, it is not soft enough to Chinese taste; But that cold beer is really refreshing.

In Germany, whether it is a hotel lobby, a street bakery, a Turkish kebab shop or a more formal restaurant, beer will always play the leading role. Slowly, I discovered that beer does not seem to be "alcohol" in the eyes of Germans. To them, beer is like mung bean soup to us. It  is delicious, nutritious, cheap and healthy. No matter how cold the weather is, there are people sitting at the door of any bakery or coffee shop drinking beer and chatting. On the street, Passers-by in overcoats, thick scarves and woolen gloves, exhaled long white breaths,but many of them hold bottles of beer while walking and drinking

Germans seem to drink beer all the time. When we are thirsty, we go to the small supermarket  to buy water and drink. But when they are thirsty, they almost drink beer. Chinese people pay attention to food, so there is a folk saying: "This is not my dish"; Interestingly, in English, this sentence is called: "It's no my cup of tea" (this is not my tea); In German, this sentence is called: "Das ist nicht mein Bier" (this is not my beer).

There is a large chain supermarket called Kaisers near the hotel where I stayed. Before returning to the hotel every day, I will buy some water and juice, and all kinds of beers are naturally indispensable. On the Kaisers wine shelf, there are hundreds of beers. Except for some craft brews, the prices of most beers are generally about the same as bottled drinking water. I also found Yanjing Beer and Tsingtao Beer. The friends who accompanied us said that Chinese beer sold well in Berlin, and instead, only German people would buy Chinese beer and Chinese people would only drink German or European beer in Germany. National beer...

I read some interesting anecdotes about beer and found that not only the Germans love beer, but the whole world loves beer not so deeply:

  • When the Egyptians built the pyramids, beer was a currency that could be circulated. It can be said that there would be no pyramids without beer;

  • In the 13th century, the Norwegians would baptize their children with beer; In modern times, the first hijacking occurred in Norway, and the hijackers finally offered to give up their weapons on the condition that they get more beer.

  • The British created a beer with the highest alcohol content in the world, with an alcohol content of 55%. However, in Russia, until after 2013, Russians considered beer to be an alcoholic beverage.

At this point, the Russians’ view of beer is similar to that of the Germans. In a standard German company, it is normal that employees drink beer during work. I think this is good. Just think about it. Drink some beer during working hours, everyone is smiling,which helps build a harmonious atmosphere and relieve tension.

Beer and music are also naturally close. The provision of beer in outdoor music venues can be said to be the world’s standard. In addition to the moderate price and alcohol content, there must be other reasons. Let us take a scientific and rigorous attitude to explain this. Since drinking and listening are sensory experiences, the two can influence each other. According to a study published in Frontiers in Psychology, music can affect the taste of beer. If you take a sip of beer when you hear the bass, you will find that the beer becomes bitter, and it will be sweeter when you hear the high pitch. In other words, music can make the taste of beer more complex and beautiful. This is called the "sound flavoring" of the cross-sensing mode by scientists, so the next time you are about to open a can of beer, remember to play a piece of music you like.
