How does a brite tank work?
Carbonating a full batch of beer with a carbonating stone in a brite tank provides for much quicker carbonation. The carbonating stone increases the surface area contact with the beer by producing tiny bubbles of CO2, which are more easily absorbed into the beer.
Can we ferment in a brite tank?
If you are bottling, canning, or kegging a brewery will typically have one brite tank for every 4-5 fermenters. Beer will usually spend 2 days in a brite tank to clarify and adjust carbonation levels while most fermenters hold the beer for 10-20 days.
Bright beer tank introduction
Bright beer tanks are often also called serving tanks, tax determination tanks or clear beer tanks (=CBTs), bright beer tanks (=BBTs), maturation or conditioning tanks. We know that bright beer tank is the last vessel that beer comes in contact with to become a beer that is perfectly matured, clarified and ready to be packaged and served.
A Bright Tank is a dish-bottomed pressure-rated temperature-controlled tank used to hold beer in preparation for packaging. The term “bright” refers to “bright beer,” beer that has been rendered bright (clear) by filtration, centrifugation, fining, and/or maturation. In most breweries, beer will be filtered after leaving a uni-tank or lagering vessel and be directed into a bright tank. If the beer is to be force-carbonated, then the beer may be carbonated in-line, under pressure, between the fermenter or lagering tank and the bright tank. In this case, the beer should arrive at the bright tank with full carbonation.
The BBT can be horizontal bright beer tank and vertical bright beer tank based on customer's space at site .
Compared to the normal vertical bright beer tank, if the customer's site height is limited but the space is abundant, we can use a horizontal brite tank or use a wider diameter tank. If the customer's space is limited but the height is very high, we can also use horizontal BBT.They can be arranged in the battery, i.e. several rows one above another
Properties wider tanks with small length of cylindrical part:
Smaller heat transfer area, lower cooling effect
They are less demanding in terms of height space.
Properties slender tanks with large height of cylindrical part:
Larger heat transfer area, the greater the cooling effect
They are more demanding in terms of height space
